Mooi nieuws weer! Rotterdam City Basketball is blij met de komst van Zimi Nwokeji (24) naar de club. De Amerikaans-Nigeriaanse forward (2.01 meter) is afkomstig van Jacksonville Dolphins. “Hij is een schutter (38,5% driepunters) die het veld groot kan maken en door zijn atletisch vermogen zowel op de roll als de pop uit de voeten kan”, zegt coach Tim Arns.
Zimi (offciële voornaam Chukwuzimife) heeft het in zich uit te groeien tot een publiekslieveling van Rotterdam City Basketball. En niet alleen door zijn opvallende haardos. Vanuit Amerika klinken louter enthousiaste woorden: “I am very excited to not only be part of this team but the community as well. There are a lot of new emotions and feelings of course but one thing that is consistent for me is that I am ready to compete and give my all to win.”
Zimi omschrijft zichzelf als “your regular young adult” die videogames speelt en met vrienden en familie chillt. Daarnaast heeft hij het komende seizoen in Rotterdam nog wel een uitdaging: beter worden op de ukelele, die hij sinds kort bespeelt. “I know about 8 chords for Somewhere over the Rainbow. So hopefully in a year I will be able to play and sing at the same time, but it is harder than I thought it was.”
